Micro current therapy

Acuscope Myopulse is unique in micro current therapy because the technology works off of biofeedback from your cells and treats specifically according to the current condition of your tissue.

God created our bodies to function off of specific electrical frequencies. Most people are familiar with the ability to look at the electricity in the heart with an ECG/EKG or take a look at the brain function with an EEG. However, every cell in the body moves electricity and can have impedances, causing the area to heal slowly or not heal at all (which often times leads to chronic pain). Micro current therapy is a noninvasive, painless procedure that promotes healing and has often been successful with issues that have not responded to other treatments and/or medication.

The Acuscope and Myopulse are FDA approved equipment that have a two-way function to help the cells repair and function at a higher level. Unlike traditional TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) units and other electrotherapy devices, the Acuscope-Myopulse system uses a much smaller current referred to as a microcurrent. This is the same current used by the cells in the body. This microcurrent enables this modality to communicate with the cells most effectively and then read the output of the tissue. This output will indicate where cells are responding normally (healthy), where cells have a low conductivity and where cells are overactive or “hot”.

By evaluating the feedback, the correct current can be applied so that the cells can be corrected and function optimally, which means, allowing the tissue involved to begin the healing process in a faster more efficient manor.

The microcurrent increases the removal of waste product from the cell and increases protein synthesis. It enables the cell to produce up to 500% more ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate), which is the energy and power source of the cell (if you have had biology class think back to the picture of the mitochondria and the ATP). This is what allows the rejuvenation and healing of the area in a faster more efficient way.

The Acuscope-Myopulse works both on nerve pain and conductivity as well as directly on the tissue (muscles, ligaments, tendons, bone) making this modality beneficial to many conditions. The following are links to more in-depth science and case studies using microcurrent therapy, if you are interested.

 The History

The Nobel Prize was awarded to two scientists, who in 1992 discovered a way to prove that the electrical potentials of the cell membrane establishes a gradient which prevents or allows ions (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, etc.) to pass through pore-like ion channels.  The relevance of this scientific breakthrough to understanding the benefits of microcurrent is founded on evidence that microamperage stimulation reestablishes normal cellular electrical potentials (repolarization of the cell membrane):

ATP Production is Increased by Microcurrent Stimulation

Forty subjects with chronic back pain were divided into two groups - one received real microcurrent electrical stimulation with the Electro-Acuscope, and the other a placebo treatment.  A two-month follow-up showed a significant difference:  75.22% pain reduction in the group that had actually received treatments, and 6.3% pain reduction in the placebo group
